Davenport provides students taking online courses with free access to SMARTHINKING - the leading source for online tutoring and academic support. Log on to SMARTHINKING from anywhere, at anytime and interact with our live e-structors (tutors) in basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, micro and macroeconomics, accounting, chemistry, Spanish and writing for all subjects.
To get the help you need when you need it, simply:
STEP 1: CHECK YOUR TECH
SMARTHINKING requires the following minimum system qualifications:

Processor: Pentium 100 processor (or Mac equivalent)

Browser: For IBMPC Compatibles users - Netscape Navigator or Communicator 4.07 or better, or Internet Explorer 4.01 or better. For Apple Mac OS users - Internet Explorer required.

Connection: 56K modem recommended, but 28.8K modem acceptable.
STEP 2: CREATE/UPDATE YOUR ACCOUNT
TO CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT
- You must first get a username and password from Davenport staff. Email Davenport Online or call 1-800-203-5323.
- Go to www.SMARTHINKING.com and enter the username and password in the upper right-hand corner.
- Complete the Registration Form, choose a new username and password, and check your browser settings.
- The next time you login, just go to www.smarthinking.com, enter your personal Username and Password, and hit the Login button. This will take you to your personal Academic Home Page.
TO UPDATE AN EXISTING ACCOUNT
If you currently have a SMARTHINKING account, please complete the following steps:

Click on "My Account"

Click on the first Icon on the left side that says "If you received a new username and password from your school, please click here to add it to your account."

Enter the new username and password shown above for your school.
STEP 3: GET HELP
SMARTHINKING offers many ways for you to get the help you need:
- Connect with an e-structor NOW and interact LIVE with an e-structor (tutor).
Note: The first time you run the whiteboard, you may get a plug-in notice. You must click "Yes" when asked if you will accept the plug-in. If you are having trouble loading the whiteboard you may need to change a setting on your browser. Please go to: http://www.smarthinking.com/static/fix/fix.htm for more information.
- Submit your writing to our Online Writing Lab and a writing tutor will give you feedback on your essay. You can use this to get feedback on any piece of writing (usually within 24 hours) before you turn it in to your professor.
- Schedule a personal session and pre-schedule a one-on-one session with a tutor.
- Submit a question and a tutor will reply within 24 hours.
- Search the schedule and search our database of tutors to find the one who is right for you.
